Exam Description

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examination is designed for students who wish to study in a university or college.  The scoring system is on a scale of 1 - 9 and most British universities require a score of 5 - 7.5.
This course prepares you for the examination and also provides general training in study skills. Classes combine input and practice with regular tests to practise each skill. You choose between the Academic Module and General Training Module, both of which consist of papers in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. In each paper, students are tested on the skills they will need for further study in an English language environment.

IELTS 15

In your IELTS class, you will work on developing your English and exam strategy for:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Listening

IELTS 20, 25 & 30

On this course you will study General English for 15 hours per week and IELTS for 5, 10 or 15 hours per week. This course is particularly recommended if your grammatical accuracy and vocabulary need improvement, and if you need to improve your communication skills for the exam.

The General English classes develop your overall knowledge and ability, and the IELTS classes focus on exam skills and strategy for:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Listening
