Your first day at school

We want students to feel at home at Hampstead School from the moment they arrive!

Language Placement Test

On their first day at school, students will have a language placement test from 8am to 10am.  The placement test consists of a grammar, oral and listening test and based on these results, we place each student in the best class for their level.  At the end of the testing session each student will receive a timetable with details of the class, level, teacher and classroom.   A teacher leads this testing session and is always happy to answer any questions students may have before going to their first class.

If a student feels that the level of the class may not be right, there is no need to worry!  Our Directors of Studies, Angela and Yolanda, are available all day Monday - Friday to help with any questions about the classes, teachers, level or course materials.  Also, our friendly Client Service Coordinators at Reception are always available to help with any questions students may have.

Books & Materials

General English Morning Classes

We have 12 levels of General English morning classes, ranging from beginner to proficiency and each level has a dedicated course book.  Books can be borrowed or bought from Reception.

Exam Classes

Students in a TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge Exam class will be required to buy the prescribed course book.  These books can all be bought from Reception.  The TOEIC classes make use of a wide range of materials from various books, so the teacher will provide photocopies in these classes.  Our teachers are always happy to recommend additional practice books if students would like to invest in more materials, and we also have a wide range of exam practice materials in our Library.
